“Lord, come!” was their age-old cry of faith and infinite longing. He who 
was executed and buried was not dead. He drew near as the sovereign living

one. The Messiah Jesus rose from the dead and his kingdom will break in at

his second coming! That was the message of his first followers, such as 
Peter, who led the church at Jerusalem at its founding.
