"No longer will violence be heard in your land,
nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but
you will call your walls Salvation and your gates
Praise." Isaiah 60:18
That is how it will be when the time comes for
God to make heaven and earth--and, most of all,
his people--anew. Those of us who want to
belong to God's people must always honor and
praise him, with our hearts and mouths and
actions. For it is God's wish to be honored and
praised among us. This is the foremost task of
his people. Then they shall go out into the
whole world and humankind shall be renewed.
This is how it was with the early Christians, of
whom it was said, "With great power the apostles
continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord
Jesus, and much grace was upon them all"
(Acts 4:33). They all brought the gift of salvation
and there was praise in their mouths and in
their hearts, and God supplied all they needed
for this. For we ourselves can do nothing in our
own strength. Wherever there is something to
be accomplished for God's kingdom, it must be
done through the grace of God. And we implore
that this gift may be continually renewed, so that
this day too may be imbued with bounteous
grace!
