October 20 "When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord'--and you forgave the guilt of my sin." Psalm 32:3-5 It is simply unbelievable what power there is in uprightness and truthfulness. What we suppress and hide within ourselves works like poison, consuming the sap of life within us and enervating all our faculties. As soon as the sin is spoken out and honesty is regained, the poison loses its power. God's truth becomes the all-healing power that will undo all the damage. This is why people ran after John the Baptist and confessed their sins. Their baptism was the sign of forgiveness of sin, and they could stand again in God's grace.
