October 17 The only way to draw closer to the Lord is by learning to believe firmly in his help. And there is no better way of showing our Christianity than to believe in the power of Christ, also in daily life. People are constantly grumbling about the time we live in, but I have yet to hear a complaint about the lack of faith among the faithful, of their failure to believe that we can call on the Lord Jesus for help. People rely on their own capabilities and pin their hopes on all manner of things, but I have never heard anywhere of laying claim to the all-powerful Jesus.
