October 15 - Breakfast with Blumhardt

October 15

"The Lord has made proclamation to the ends
of the earth." Isaiah 62:11

The Lord makes his voice heard all over the
world, to the ends of the earth. Again and again
people can hear something from God, as he
reveals himself to us. Granted, we have to be
watchful; we need to use our ears and eyes so
that we do not miss seeing God in sun, moon,
and stars, and on the ground too, where one
can learn from each little plant.

Our daily life is such that each of us can hear
the Lord--the God who strives to reveal himself
to our weak senses. And however weak or poor
or benighted we are, God brings it to pass that
we are able to listen to him. Today, too, we need
to be attentive to him. In all that happens we can
hear God's voice; perhaps we may even be
allowed to see him once!

There is nothing greater than to hear something
from the Lord.

Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt, from
Family Prayers for Each Day.
