September 16 Because God exists, and the earth and humankind, too, you should believe that people can come to something. You are quite right not to look upon present human society as final. You are right to believe that a Church will one day be upon earth, a community in which peace and joy will reign. Believe this! As truly as God is in heaven, as truly as Christ was born, as truly as the gospel is preached in Christ, so truly the kingdom of God will come on earth. Therefore believe and hope for this kingdom, even though it still lies in the future.
