Bruderhof Guest Book

by Rob <news1@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 5, 2005 at 04:21 PM

For many years it has been our fervent desire to plan a SUSTAINABLE
community, a community of souls whose primary reason for existence is to
live lightly and harmoniously on GODs property. We now have that
op****tunity in Iowa where we have inherited a working 580 farm! Our aim
is to uncompromisingly develop a "village" (un-named as yet) which will
incor****ate only renewable building materials with the emphasis upon straw
bale techniques. I have attended workshops which qualify me as a teacher
of this and other methods of construction. We will employ solar and wind
energy and be entirely "off the grid" in due time. We will use only
composting toilets in each private residence as well as all community
buildings. We will use "grey water" in irrigation and rain runoff will be
contained for all purposes. We will have large commons and forest and
lakes and meditation and every day of our lives will be dedicated to
producing an Eden within us as well as around us. There will be no gas
engines within the village limits but there will be parking for them on
the outskirts. In the town, only electric vehicles will be used. There is
so much more to say about this community, of course, but enough for now. I
am now working with a young achitect who has designed and lives in "Wild
Sage", Boulder, Colo. We are very excited about his philosophy and
obvious talent!! If you can offer any pertinent suggestions, I will be
most grateful! Perhaps you may have an interest in living with us in
Iowa, or know of others who are like minded and looking for real
community? Again, we are out to return sanity to lifestyle on our planet,
as I know that you are! We need to focus upon that goal by the unification
of many minds living in close proximity. I am now an old man with a very
young soaring imagination and enthusiasm for life!! I need your input!!!
Peace and carrots! Rob Litchfield
