But I
>just have to come and ask other people lol. I find the Bible hard to
study
>so it's good having you people here so I can ask questions :-) and thank
you
>very much for answering without being so darn sarcastic about things!

1st, to be sure you are getting the maximum help in your Bible study,
are you born again? If the Holy Spirit (the Teacher) does not indwell
you, time and people have proved that much/most of the Bible is a
closed book which you will not understand. (It wasn't written to 'the
world"; it was written to believers.)

2nd, let's assume you ARE a Christian, the "key" to scripture
understanding remains that you must be sure, each time you sit down to
read the Bible, that you ask the Holy Spirit to "open your
heart/mind/spirit to His teaching, and to give you that which He would
have you learn for that time).

3rd Be receptive, be OPEN-minded each time you read. Do not allow
beliefs to enter your head that are contra-scriptural. ("All will be
saved", etc). But DO be open to have your pre-misconceptions swept
away.

For instance, I recently re-discovered a passage forgotten for MANY
years, a passage in the epistles, that indicates that the 1st C AD
Christians were actually drinking wine (and likely beer) at church,
and getting sloppy drunk. Paul got word of this and was PISSED. IF I
had not been WIDE OPEN at that time to the Holy Spirit's teaching, I'd
have overlooked that, having been raised in a church (Southern
Baptist) in which they taught that we were to avoid alcohol. We were
even required for church member****p, to vow at each Sunday service, to
abstain from alcohol.

I was taught that NO one went to Heaven until AFTER Christ died.
Poppycock! That fails to explain SEVERAL Old Testament AND New
Testament passages, and I'd not have discovered the answer had I not
OPENED MY HEART, my MIND, and my spirit to the Holy Spirit's teaching.

Those who do NOT open themselves to the Spirit's teaching are those
whom I call "redneck Christians" such as in the deep South, where they
handle s****s, drink poison, and exclude n*s from their services.

The biggest group of "Christians" I ever encountered who used the n*
word were at my home church (some 5,000) in Wa****ngton, D.C.

People who have "decided" what the Bible says and then closed their
hearts and minds to any further teaching.

Also be sure you have a translation that is VERY easy to read (it
should be as easy to read/absorb as the daily newspaper). IF you are
ONLY reading the KJV, that may be a large part of the problem. If you
read the KJV, do yourself a favor and supplement that with other
versions. NIV, NASB, NEV, whatever.

no such thing. Romans 1. At least, he cannot be ACTIVELY gay.

recently "came
>out", and when I questioned his ***uality, he said God will judge him.

God already has. The judgement has been pronounced on the "fatal
sins", that is, both those that will shorten your life (***
immorality, hurting one's temple--smoking), and those for which you
are banned from heaven (lying, a pattern of *** immorality, and
others) There is a reason those lists are in the Bible. "So we have
NO excuse for "not knowing."

I agree that we should not judge him, but I don't know if people
should make
>exceptions for themselves.

Correct. If one went to half the trouble correcting the problem that
they go to explaining it, they might overcome it, with God's help. I'm
not talking about pathology. Such as my mental illness, which I cannot
help, causes pathological thoughts and behavior. I'm talking about
WILLFUL sin.

Homo***uality is something we seem to be born with. However, acting on
it is a choice. And there is SOME evidence (the homo***ual doesn't
want to hear) that it is treatable as is any other pathology.

What if my friend never did anything about being
>gay?

The sin is in the activity, not the tendency.
An example. Ted Bundy, the 2nd most prolific mass murderer in American
history, came to Christ while in prison.
Talk about a conversion. He called Dr. Dobson into his cell and spent
several hours with him, confessing his newfound faith. To prove his
newfound faith, he asked that Jim arrange for him to be executed,
because he believed he needed to pay the ultimate price for his sins,
and he knew if he lived, his "demons" would drive him to find a way of
escape SO THAT HE COULD GO ON RAPING AND MURDERING WOMEN. He said he
knew the ONLY way to rid the earth of the threat he represented was to
execute him. He didn't want to kill anyone else, he knew he couldn't
help himself, so he asked to be stopped with the gas chamber.

The state of California obliged him, and it's re****ted that he went to
his death gladly, at peace, because he was secure in his salvation,
and he knew his voluntary death was the right thing to do.

THAT was a sincere conversion. He knew he had rape and murder in his
blood. He CHOSE to stop the only way he could. By volunteering for the
gas chamber.

No homo***ual has a more powerful urge, but they have no wish to
control it. They'd rather die than give up their abominable behavior,
and many curse God, including those in here. The cursing God, BTW, is
a tip-off that homo*** is demonic, not genetic.

And if you didn't know, evidence suggests that parents who dabble in
demon possession and witchcraft pass both on to their kids. So if a
child discovers that they're homo***ual when they're 5 years old, look
to the parents.

I know he fancies guys but no-one ever really likes him, sounds nasty
>but it's true, so if he never did anything about it, would that count as
a
>sin because he is still gay...it's a bit confusing!

AGAIN, the sin is in committing abomination (such as male-male anal).
Or in wi****ng and wanting and wi****ng and wanting and wi****ng and
wanting. (lust)

One cannot be held accountable for their God-given nature. Could be
God has "blessed" this person with homo*** urges as a "test."

As God gave me an anger issue as a test.
Would I hurt anyone? I have had multiple chances to hurt a cheating
wife and a conniving wife; I have hurt neither.

What is the OT? What does this stand for? (and NT while I'm at it...)

Old Twaddle and New Twaddle, same old nonsense, just a new sheen of

You play with fire, eh, demon?

You can choose to not believe without being offensive. Being
DELIBERATELY offensive to Christians is one symptom of being
possessed, BTW.

But then, I'm betting you knew that.

In this context, OT stands for Old Testament, MOST of which is of only
historical value for Christians. NT stands for New Testament, which is
VITAL for every Christian.

There will always be those who believe in the entire Bible and there
will always be those who do not, and so I will depart the discussion

I'm not sure the baptist group is the very best place for this. Some
folk have no taste other than their tastebuds. As my sister used to
say, "some folks' sense of taste is all in their mouths."

Of course, good taste and good judgement never influenced crawls.

That's all right, most people aren't sure that you have the good sense
to not post where you lack knowledge or are going to lie, like here.
Or did you fail to read the warning.
I might note that you are the only one that took it on himself to
whine.

>folk have no taste other than their tastebuds. As my sister used to

Well, yes, yoiu hjave established that when it comes to taste, no
taste seems to be your brand of choice.
Or do you find women sitting on a pier where a stanchion has been
removed offensivre?? No doubt you do.
Not to mention, how do you know what it is about unless you went
there??

>say, "some folks' sense of taste is all in their mouths."

Well, in that case you are probably the proud owner of the bighgest
set of tastebuds in the world.

>Of course, good taste and good judgement never influenced crawls.

Can't speak for crawls, biut my name is in the headers so I can speak
for myself. & yes, I hacve good taste in mabny things. Now as to you,
poor baby that you are, I can say that when it comes to a chance at
selfaggrandisment or attempting to belittle others, your taste comes
right from the privy basement. Google doesn't mind verifying this.

Butr then, everyone knows that.

appears] if he thinks he can get away with it.

***** cat, still trying to impress yourself?? Apparently.

Now, trying for a strawman there jezze"? Won't work, everyone reading
this knows that is not what I said, nor can it be inferred from what
was written
with out some effort on the part of the reader. Course, a liar could
say that.
But then, you are a known liar & you are known to have problems
reading the written word.
Sorry for you but I am unaware of any requirement on my part to use
baby talky when attempting to communicate with you.
Granted, it appears your reading level is there when comprehension is
involved, but no thanks.

>is a "whiner." ??? Then I relish the insult.

Not everyone, in this case, just you. No one else was whining, you
were attempting to stir up mali ice where none was offered. Your
failed.
No one else broke a leg trying to climb on your honey wagon. A band
wagon it ain't.
BTW, for you, it was a compliment.

I give you credit for ONE part of the above that you got correct! :-)

>That's all right, most people aren't sure that you have the good sense

most would say, "That's all right, most people aren't sure that YOU'VE
GOT the good sense to not post where you lack knowledge or are going
to lie, like here.

Good for you. I now give you credit for an IQ of 51 as opposed to an
IQ of 50.

:-)

See how nice I can be when I'm in a good mood?

As for my being the only one to "whine", you might note I'm the only
one who commented AT ALL. The rest didn't BOTHER.

We can't all be perfect. I'm mentally ill; what's YOUR excuse for
wasting air?

>Or do you find women sitting on a pier where a stanchion has been
>removed offensivre?? No doubt you do.

Please quote the part where I called it "offensive." I didn't say
that. You are a MASTER at misquoting and twisting things. Typical
behavior for demoniacs.

What I said was it wasn't appropriate for this group, IN MY OPINION.
Last I looked, I am still entitled to my opinion, or is your last real
name Hitler, Himmler, or Hess?

>Not to mention, how do you know what it is about unless you went
>there??

Well, besides my genius IQ and my award winning photography skills (BA
PHOTO-Journalism)...
I'm perceptive.

And, though this was not the place to put it, IMO, I DO wish to thank
you for the picture, which I DID download. Sincerely!

MY ONLY objection, then and now, was your putting it in a Christian
group. I've tried similar things, to open the group to adult
discussions; I've been shouted down and called every name there is.
Including by YOU! I suppose the point is, it's ok IF YOU do it, but
NOT if *I* do it. Forgive me: I'm still working on figuring out the
logic of that. Okay! I've figured it out. There' s no logic; you're
merely very egocentric.
(you don't need to look that up; it means I called you self-centered)

I bet. How many great works of art have you seen and enjoyed? The
Mona Lisa? The David? The Last Supper?

I was blessed to see The David before the kook broke it.

Now as to you,

You have yet to figure out that lots of things that are fine on the
internet, and in google, don't belong in here. Such as you.

I have no regrets for my real posts that are in google. I do object to
those posts that are being confused with mine. I also object to people
archiving my writing w/o my permission.

Subject: [ALERT] MeetUp with Conservatives in YOUR City on Tuesday
Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2004 21:06:15 -0800

This CONSERVATIVE ALERT prepared for John Sheets:

ISSUE: Next Tuesday night (March 2nd), in
hundreds of cities
across America, conservatives will be coming
together once
again for their local "Townhall MeetUp". YOU need
to come, too!

http://townhall.meetup.com/

AOL GO
HERE

"MeetUp.com" is a for-profit, non-partisan,
independent
business that provides a platform where people
with similar
interests can meet each other offline for
whatever cause they
believe in. Several political campaigns, media
personalities,
and advocacy groups of the left AND the right,
including the
conservative ****tal site Townhall.com, have
partnered with
MeetUp to allow their individual groups to
organize.

Yes, as we've seen, the liberals have been a bit
quicker to
take advantage of this tool. A lot of the media
coverage lately
has been focused on what the Left is doing
online, but quietly
we've been building our own grassroots team. And
now WE are
zooming forward -- the Townhall MeetUp is now the
*fastest
growing* group meeting nationwide, with over
22,000
conservatives in over 612 cities already signed
up to meet
each month, and there's no limit to how far we
can take it!

If you've never been to one before, these MeetUps
are a GREAT
way for local conservatives to get together, have
a bite to
eat or a drink together, and strategize the best
way to
implement their local version of the "vast
right-wing
conspiracy." You can even upload digital pictures
of your
gathering to the website afterwards!

AND, once again, we've got a special job for you
to do at
YOUR local MeetUp!

ACTION ITEM: There's no substitute for activism
at the local
level in the fight for American values, and we
need you. The
Left is out screaming about "taking their country
back." What
they *really* mean is that they want to take this
country
back -- from YOU.

This is a great op****tunity to also organize a
local group
to head up to Wa****ngton, DC for our HUGE
counter-protest we
told you about that's coming up in April
(http://www.rightmarch.com/march/
), when we'll
be taking a
stand against the tens of thousands of radical
liberals that
will be marching in the streets of our nation's
capitol.
You can let everyone at your local MeetUp know
about this
great event by downloading our PDF flyer and
handing out
copies at your gathering:

http://www.conservativealerts.com/rightmarch/march.pdf

AOL GO HERE

Download the flyer, make copies, and hand them
out at your
local MeetUp -- maybe you can carpool, caravan,
or charter a
bus to head up to DC in April!

NOTE: There are other conservative MeetUps
coming up soon;
make sure you're signed up for our e-mail list
(http://www.conservativealerts.com/
) so we can
notify you of
when and where they are. And by the way, if you'd
like to sign
up for one or two LIBERAL MeetUps and "spy" for
us, to keep us
informed about what THEY'RE up to -- let us know!
(mailto:alerts@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
)

Be sure to download the PDF flyer about the April
Counter-
Protest in Wa****ngton, DC, and make enough copies
to hand out
to the other MeetUp attendees. Don't forget to
take a digital
camera if you have one handy, so you can upload
photos to the
MeetUp website. And be sure to forward this
e-mail to everyone
you know who wants to get together with local
right-thinking
folks, ready to advance the conservative agenda
-- locally,
and nationwide. Thank you!

Nonsense. What you are describing IS known as "delegation." You are
merely spouting sour grapes because you don't care for how the named
Presidents chose to delegate.

There's an excellent story that demonstrates the above fact
graphically. I don't believe anyone in this group would object to
President Abraham Lincoln. The story goes that one day, he called in
the entire cabinet to discuss a particular problem. He had apparently
already made up his mind, but he wanted feedback from his most
trusted, most knowledgeable advisors. He patiently sat through HOURS
of discussion and debate, giving each cabinet member his/her due to
persuade the President of their POV. Finally, when ALL sides had
spoken, President Lincoln called for a vote on the matter. Every
single cabinet member voted "Nay!" At the end of the vote, he was
sitting there, looking at all those "Nay votes." He replied, "XX Nay"
votes; I vote "Aye!" The Ayes win."

As President Harry Truman said, "The Buck Stops Here!"

Yes. And 8 years as President weren't enough for her. She wants
another 8.

Thank God ! Let us not forget our last Democratic President and
Democrat-controlled congress SERIOUSLy eroded our constitutional
rights. First the newborn euthanasia bill (PBA), then the laws that
abridged our right to bear arms.

Hey, Shan! People in here don't call you ugly names merely because
you're a guy who likes guys. clean it up! Or quit posting your filth
in Christian groups! Have you EVER HEARD OF the word "restraint?" Or
the words "respecting others?"

I'm betting you're one who would get pissed off at somebody at work
and you'd use every filthy word you know, shouted at the top of your
lungs to tell them off, even on daughter's day with 20 young girls
running around.

Have some class!

Or I'll come cast out your demons!

LOL!!! It happens! As I've said to others, I mostly do nothing with
walksalone or Didymous but argue. But when one makes a statement with
which I agree, and I see an opening to do so, I shall.

Do not get too used to it. Not to offend, but since I don't consider
you a Christian by New Testament standards, I won't be doing it often.

Oh I won't, we been at each other for a year I think now, but as long as
we
can keep civil it be fine. Then I do consider myself a Believer in
Christ
by New Testament Standards that the blood of Jesus cleans me of all my
sins,
and I love Jesus with all my heart. So you do what you got to do, and I
do
the same. Thats Ok with me.

What the clue, I am not even sure what they were talking about, as I
don't
pay too much attention to foolish statements, I may reply to them, but
unless someone quotes what they are talking or were talking about I don't
waste time worrying about it. You be careful, somebody, I sure will clue
you in, as well as me, they feed on such stuff. We it seems just enjoy
posting.

I see no mention that either Solomon or David was punished for
polygamy. In fact, even as a polygamist murderer, David remained "a
man after God's own heart." And if God hadn't approved/accepted
Solomon, he'd not have given him the Wisdom of the ages.

David was punished, not for polygamy, bur for murdering the husband of
the woman he committed adultery with ( I guess hundreds of wives
weren't enough).

In fact, within Judaism polygamy
>was later nullified by rabbinical law.

I believe you are incorrect.

But there were reasons why polygamy

The reason I believe you are incorrect about rabbinical law ending
/nullifying polygamy is that it appears in the church in the 1st C, in
the NT. And Paul doesn't condemn the new Jewish-Christian polygamist
converts; he merely declares that they cannot be elders.

1TI 3:1 Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on
being an overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer must be
above reproach, the husband of but one wife,

If we try to dig out some meaning here, evidently, there were
some/many of the flock who wanted to serve the congregation.
Pastors, deacons, elders, etc. (depending on what YOUR church calls
elders) So the pastors were appointing these eager members (as they
qualified spiritually by showing real maturity) to various positions
of responsibility (most likely associate pastors, elders, and deacons)
The polygamists were also eager to serve. They were evidently asking
for some sort of position of authority.

Paul heard of this dilemma, and he said, "No." The elder may only have
one wife!" I'm guessing that Paul believed (rightly) that any rich Jew
who had 20 wives and 50 children had his hands full at home.

Note from the passage absolutely NO condemnation for the Christian
polygamist; only a limitation. "No polygamist may be a pastor."

This is NOT a rebuke of divorce as some say. Those rebukes appear
ELSEwhere.

>
>In addition, since there were few things that women could do to

True. In those days, until at least the end of the 1st C AD, women had
little value other than to maintain the family (caring for the
home/kids, and being a baby factory and a ***ual pleasure machine--
surely no one in here believes that ***ual pleasure for its own sake
is a 21st C concept)

Also the idea from Rome that *** is ONLY for procreation couldn't be
further from the truth, since Paul also teaches that men have no right
to withhold pleasure from their female partner, nor do women have the
right to manipulate their men with *** pleasure. *** pleasure is to be
freely given, freely received.

1 Cor 7:3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and
likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife's body does not belong to
her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body
does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. 5 Do not deprive
each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may
devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan
will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 I say this
as a concession, not as a command. 7 I wish that all men were as I am.
But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has
that.

Sounds like ***ual pleasure is the primary reason for *** to ME.

But those days of
>total female dependence are long gone, so there is no reason for
polygamy
>to continue. It is also unfair as well as animalistic - a remnant of
chimpanzee
>days.

I can think of at least one EXCELLENT reason for polygamy in the
church today. But I don't wish to bore anyone. If you're interested
ask, and it doesn't apply to Americans; SORRY!
