CHUCK STAMFORD - PART 1OF5

by Pastor Dave <ananias917_@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 19, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Chuck, here's the first one for you to deny and pretend
you didn't see it, or respond to it, snipping and pretending
the words don't exist, both of which you did the last time
I posted the info from the "church fathers" that you claim
didn't exist, no matter how many times I posted it and
pretended that none of them said that Christ returned
already, so you could keep lying, claiming that my belief
is some new thing!

The Comments of the "Church Fathers" - Part 1

* BARNABUS - 1st/2nd Century (from his work popularly
known as "The Epistle of Barnabus",
dated by Robinson at around 75 A.D.

Barnabus on the fulfillment of prophecy:

"Moreover, understand this also, my brothers. When
ye see that after so many signs and wonders wrought
in Israel, even then they WERE [past tense] abandoned,
let us give heed, lest haply we [also] be found, as the
Scripture saith, many called but few chosen..."

"Therefore the Son of God came in the flesh to this end,
that He might sum up the complete tale [count] of their
sins against those who persecuted and slew His prophets."

[You should read Mat 21:33-43 and note that the father
came back to do vengeance against the same people
who killed the son and not some generation thousands
 of years later.]

Barnabus on the "Israel of God":

CHAP. XIII.--CHRISTIANS, AND NOT JEWS, THE HEIRS
OF THE COVENANT: "Now let us see whether this people
or the first people hath the inheritance, and whether the
covenant had reference to us or to them. Hear ye now
what the Scripture saith concerning the people. Isaac
prayed for Rebecca his wife, because she was barren;
and she conceived (22). Furthermore also, Rebecca
went forth to inquire of the Lord; and the Lord said
to her, 'Two nations are in thy womb, and two peoples
in thy belly; and the one people shall surpass the other,
and the eider shall serve the younger' (23). You ought
to understand who was Isaac, who Rebecca, and
concerning what persons He declared that this people
should be greater than that. And in another prophecy
Jacob speaks more clearly to his son Joseph, saying,
'Behold, the Lord hath not deprived me of thy presence;
bring thy sons to me, that I may bless them (24).
And he brought Manasseh and Ephraim, desiring that
Manasseh (25) should be blessed, because he was the
eider. With this view Joseph led him to the right hand
of his father Jacob. But Jacob saw in spirit the type
of the people to arise afterwards. And what says
[the Scripture]? And Jacob changed the direction
of his bands, and laid his fight hand upon the head
of Ephraim, the second and younger, and blessed him.
And Joseph said to Jacob, 'Transfer thy right hand to
the head of Manasseh (25), for he is my first-born son'
(26).  And Jacob said, 'I know it, my son, I know it;
but the eider shall serve the younger: yet he also
shall be blessed (27). Ye see on whom he laid (28)
[his hands], that this people should be first, and heir
of the covenant. If then, still further, the same thing
was intimated through Abraham, we reach the perfection
of our knowledge. What, then, says He to Abraham?
'Because thou hast believed (1), it is imputed to thee
for righteousness: behold, I have made thee the father
of those nations who believe in the Lord while in
[a state of] uncir***cision." (Barnabas 13:1)

Barnabus on the Temple of God in the Last Days:

"Moreover I will tell you likewise concerning the temple,
how these wretched men being led astray set their hope
on the building, and not on their God that made them,
as being a house of God... So it cometh to pass; for
because they went to war it was pulled down by their
enemies... Again, it was revealed how the city and
the temple and the people of Israel should be betrayed.
For the scripture saith; and it shall be in the last days,
that the Lord shall deliver up the sheep of the pasture
and the fold and the tower thereof to destruction.
*_and so it happened as the Lord had spoken_*."
(Barnabas 16:3-4)

* ANDREAS OF CAPPADOCIA CAESARIA: 431-506 A.D.

"There are not wanting those who apply this passage
[Rev 6:12] to the siege and destruction of Jerusalem
 by Titus."

"These things [Rev 7:1] are referred by some to those
sufferings which were inflicted by the Romans upon
 the Jews."

* ARETHAS OF CAESARIA, from his 6th century work;
  "Commentary on Revelation":

On the early date of Revelation, as declared
by Elliot in "Horae Apocalypticae": "Or again,
[what of] the commentator Arethas, promulgated
still two or three centuries later, to the effect that
the Apocalypse was written before the destruction
of Jerusalem." - Vol 1, p.39

"Some refer this [Rev 6:12] to this siege of Jerusalem
 by Vespasian."

"Here [Rev 7:1], then, were manifestly shown to
the evangelist [John] what things were to befall
the Jews in their war against the Romans, in the
way of avenging the sufferings inflicted upon Christ."

"When the evangelist [John] received these oracles,
the destruction in which the Jews were involved
[Rev 7:1] was not yet inflicted by the Romans."

How Long Has Preterism Been Around? That's easy!
Since the destruction of the Temple, which is what
the New Testament is talking about!

I'm sure many will attack me personally after seeing
these quotes in this series of posts, but please do not
be led astray by the rantings of those who are simply
fuming, because they cannot respond, except to try
to take comments out of context and pit each writer
against himself.

"Come, let us reason together, saith the Lord."

And He said that then our sins would be made
white as snow! So it is not by denying what we
see in front of our faces, because we don't like it
that this happens, but by using our God given
reason and acknowledging the truth when we
see it and the truth is that no, the Preterist view
is not some new thing and is not heretical and
is the only view that states that Jesus is Lord
over all right now and is truly King of kings
and does not just pay lip service to those ideas,
by adding; "But now really yet, because...".

The Last Days were in the first century:

Matthew 16:27-28

27) For the Son of man shall come in the glory
of his Father with his angels; and then he shall
reward every man according to his works.
28) Verily I say unto you, There be some standing
here, which shall not taste of death, till they
see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Jesus said He would return within the lifetime
of the Apostles. We know this, because Jesus
said SOME (at least one, not not most) would
be alive when this happened.

This is not the Transfiguration. There was no
coming with the Father's angels and no judging
every man according to His works and they were
all still alive.

This is not Pentecost. There was no coming
with the Father's angels and no judging
every man according to His works and they
were all but one, still alive.

Now see a verse that no one argues is about
His Second Coming and see that this is what
Jesus was referring to, in Matthew 16:27-28.

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward
is with me, to give every man according as
his work shall be." - Revelation 22:12
