John 3

JN 3:22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the
Judean countryside,
where he spent some time with them, and baptized.

23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was
plenty of water, and people were constantly coming to be baptized. 24
(This was before John was put in prison.) 25 An argument developed
between some of John's disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of
ceremonial wa****ng.

26 They came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, that man who was with
you on the other side of the Jordan--the one you testified
about--well,

He is baptizing, and everyone is going to him."

And how many times do you plan on arguing about it?

I've heard the term, "cafeteria Christian", but don't use it to refer
to ME! I TYPICALLY hear it used by Roman Catholics to refer to
everyone else! (the Non-Roman Catholics)

In other words, if you're not a Roman Catholic, and you claim to be a
Christian, then you're a "cafeteria Christian."

If ever there was a "cafeteria Christian", it's a Roman Catholic

Immersion, believers' baptism (in the Bible)
  don't believe in it

Salvation by grace through faith in Christ (John 3:16)
  don't believe in it

Have NO other gods before me!

  don't believe in it.

I could give you 50 - 75 examples without even trying!
  "don't believe that!"

If ever there was a "cafeteria Christian", it's a Roman Catholic.

>Tell me what they are doing?

You have lost me!

You said that they did not require water baptism in order to become a
member of their church.

That is standard among MANY Baptist and other Christian denominations.

They are taking a vote on what Scripture
>means.

I have NO issue with THAT statement as it stands.

There are certainly those scriptures "Jesus rose bodily the 3rd day",
"Christ is God in human form", "Christ died on the cross to redeem
mankind"

that we must take literally, word-for-word.

HOWEVER, there are CERTAINLY doctrines -- NOT THEOLOGY-- that are
debatable.

In order to maintain "church unity" within an independent church, the
members WISELY vote to decide, "our church of 500 members will teach
THIS about THAT."

those who cannot agree to abide by that teaching (in THIS church, we
will teach and preach ONLY from the New International Version of the
Bible)

are encouraged to wor****p ELSEWHERE in the interests of UNITY.

Surely a Roman Catholic can UNDERSTAND the need for UNITY.

 Doctrine by committee

ABSOLUTELY.

Paul said, Let each of you be convinced in your own mind!
He also said, "regarding feasts, holidays, Sabbaths, food, drink"
(doctrine), 'don't argue."

Thanks be to God that He has died to set us FREE from the tyranny of
someone else telling us what we MUST believe!

And there are enough different denominations that we are CERTAIN to
find others who ALSO eat steak (non-vegetarians), those who read the
NIV (some churches ONLY use the KJV), etc.

YOU of course, prefer a "church" where all 750 MILLION of you MUST
march in LOCK step. There can be NO "individual thinking".

 What if you're ALL W R O N G ??

>:-(

"No thank you!"

and it disagrees with your view of
>Scripture again I ask you who has the truth you or them?.

There is enough truth to go around!

Do you TRULY believe that God is SO concerned with which day we
wor****p that He'd cast me into hell for wor****pping on Monday because
I had to work Sunday?

Probably, YOU do!

(I don't)

The thief on the cross was NEVER water baptized by ANY form!

But he's in heaven! He received the ONLY BAPTISM that was required

I just got done saying, that I have belonged to a number of BAPTIST
churches that did NOT REQUIRE immersion baptism for member****p.

I believe the only stipulation (and that would be up to the church)
would be that if you don't choose to be water baptized (immersed) you
can not serve as an elder.

It would seem that even among Baptist there is no true
>teaching on immersion,

AGAIN, the teaching on DOCTRINE (practice) is up to each church to
decide. There is no Vatican or pope in the Methodist church, so each
Methodist church's members (like Baptists) decides for themselves.

"In THIS Methodist church, we have a motion that we should hold
Thursday evening services, since half our members work over at Glory
Mines, and they all work on Sunday, and their only day off is
Thursday.

"All in favor, say "I".

There are 573 "I"s, and no "Nays!"

motion carries!

it is what John says it is in OKC and over

I detect your URGENT desire to insult me.

?????

>there in Wa****ng ion it is what Jane says something else.. How can
>both be correct?

Already explained that. You have evidently missed Paul's explanation:

"Let each of you be convinced in his own mind."

You can observe holidays, or you can ignore them. You can observe the
feasts, or you can ignore them. You can be a vegetarian, or you can
eat steak.

You can wor****p on Sabbath, Sunday, or every other Tuesday.

Believe it or not, there is not one set of Doctrine for us all!

And- I sense that you just want to argue.

Actually, He didn't!

Because, AFTER He SAID, "This is my body, this is my blood", He THEN
said, "so every time you eat this BREAD, and drink this CUP..."

meaning, you believe what you WANT to believe, and what you are TOLD
to believe!

I could list a DOZEN things He said and MEANT, but you IGNORE those
things!

Why?

And, I continue to have a question, which ALL Roman Catholics AVOID.

If He TRULY wanted us to eat His flesh, and drink His actual blood,
why didn't He rip an arm off, roast it, feed it to the apostles, and
grow a new one?

Maybe He couldn't!

Why didn't He use a sharp rock to open a vein, and give them His
ACTUAL BLOOD?

Why was He reduced to MAGIC?

Makes NO sense!

;-)

I have explained THIS one a gazillion times.

Sincere Bible students (which leaves YOU out), don't point at one text
and say, "SEE?"

Because they EMBARRASS themselves!

If you are going to understand THAT passage, Mr Roman Catholic, you
must study the SYMBOLISM used for the same feast (the Paschal feast)
in the OLD Testament!

New Testament. That isn't there, either!

Peter went to Rome to preach the gospel. The Romans ( Roman Catholics
of HIS day) put him in prison, then executed him!

Those Roman Catholics of Pete's day were VERY impressed!

smirk.

At least those are the lies your "church" (read "cult") tells you. I
can't find ANY of that in MY Bible.

Perhaps you'll give the reference.

(likely you won't)

I explained that, Mike. MANY times. But JUST FOR YOU, I'll explain it
once again. (not that you'll believe me. And RATHER than you just
going and CHECKING on the web, you'll call me -- and Rod -- "liars".)

Because that's the sort YOU are.

When Clinton first took office, there was a law pending. It was so
unconstitutional that George the Ist refused to sign it. It was a law
that outlawed handgun owner****p to law abiding citizens who had been
convicted of ANY form of "domestic violence." Some dubbed it "the
Domestic Violence" clause.

Clinton and other Lefties had been pu****ng restricting gun owner****p
for YEARS. This was the "bone" the Right threw them to "shut them up."

But George the Ist refused to sign it.

So -- illegal procedure-- it "went back to committee", to be ILLEGALLY
held in Congress (they can't do that) until a "New President"
(hopefully) took office. (I know because I watched this CAREFULLY.
Evidently, YOU did NOT!)

One of Clinton's campaign promises was that-- should he be elected,
he'd sign the Partial Birth Abortion bill into law. The bill would
allow a woman to GIVE BIRTH to a healthy child (how the bill is
actually worded allows this), and then kill it.

He promised that-- should he be elected, he would legalize homo***uals
in the military. He promised that he'd "find a way." (he did)

He promised also that-- should he be elected, he would SIGN the
"domestic violence anti-gun bill" that the Congress was holding "in
committee" just WAITING for a Liberal Democrat President.

I BELIEVE the first bill he signed was the Domestic Violence bill
(could be wrong on that).

But he signed it. And just before he did, SOMEONE noticed ( if you
were honest, you'd remember. If you don't, ask one of your cop
friends)

someone noticed that the new "Domestic Violence Anti-handgun bill"
would DISARM some 20 % of our nation's law enforcement AND soldiers!

So many of both have been CONVICTED of "Domestic Violence", which in
MY state, includes "arguing with your partner."

The law in Wa****ngton reads to the effect "IF a person (man) acts in a
way that they frighten their partner (female), they have committed
Domestic Violence."

An argument qualifies.

And if you argue with your partner, according to how Wa****ngton state
interprets the Federal Domestic Violence law, you lose your right to
own a handgun.

I know I am not mis-interpreting because of folk like Rod. It has
not just happened to me.

And there does NOT "have to be MORE than that to it."

You want to explain my situation away because the Truth is FAR TOO
SCARY! Congress has RUN AMUK!

john w
>>>
>>> And so now, as of this date, I am an outlaw!
>
>If you disobey a law then you are indeed an outlaw.

NOT if the law was changed AFTER the fact!

I had not broken any law on Saturday. But a law was signed on Monday
that outlawed my behavior on Friday!

I had an argument with my wife on Friday. On Monday night, Congress
signed the "Domestic Violence anti-gun bill", and Clinton passed it.
I woke up on Tuesday a criminal because Congress and Clinton made the
law RETROACTIVE INFINTELY. That is, if I had an argument with my wife
10 YEARS ago, I had still broken the new law!

That is UnConstitutional! It VIOLATES the "double-jeopardy" clause.
IF I was not guilty on Saturday or Sunday, I was not guilty on Monday,
Tuesday, or Wednesday.

The law was UNCONSTITUTIONALLY made INFINITELY RETROACTIVE, thereby
violating the "double-jeopardy" clause.

And-- once again-- you feel quite free to speak with TOTAL authority
on issues where you have NO knowledge.

One thing of which you seem UTTERLY unware (for a supposedly educated
"former cop") is that one of the COMPLAINTS about the Domestic
Violence/handgun laws is how very DIFFERENTLY they're INTERPRETED by
the 50 states!

For instance, I likely could own 10 pistols and 10 shotguns in Rhode
Island or in Idaho.

Not in Wa****ngton!

In fact, the DA explained to me,

"Mr Weatherly, we're going to prosecute you TO THE HILT

SO THAT YOU DON'T EVER COMMIT a crime!"

And if you DO ever break a law, it'll even be worse!"

I thought I was in the Twilight Zone!

So, you SUSPECT that farmer Jones is GOING to steal Farmer Brown's
prize cow.

You ARREST farmer Jones AHEAD of time, to PREVENT him from what you
SUSPECT he's ABOUT to do!

( I don't think so, but in Wa****ngton, it happens every day!)

THERE you go! You just LOVE to EMBELLISH! Don't you? ;-)

(In California anything acquired after
>marriage is community property, it does not belong to the individual)

You forget "prenuptials".

"Not necessarily."

In MY case, she stole 95 % of my stuff. Because I was accused of a
"threatening gesture" I was a criminal guilty of "domestic violence."

In which case, my punishment was that the "personal property" that was
mine BEFORE the marriage was cancelled, and everything I owned
"before" became hers.

Thousands of dollars of PROPERTY and thousands in MONEY became hers
when the judge declared "everything in Ms Weatherly's possession is of
this date HERS! Everything in Mr Weatherly's possession is of this
date HIS! "

Which meant, I got NOTHING I didn't already have. All my stuff she
held onto became legally hers.

Oh, Dave! Dave! Dave! The one who has YET to prove there's even a
BRAIN in his empty skull!

You just don't get it!

tsk tsk

And I DID serve, Dave. If it's any of your business, which it's not!

I am NOT putting down the military, David. I have friends in the
military. For those who choose to serve, it's a noble calling!

I am putting down PEOPLE, not the military!

So you can put your "self-righteous indignation" away.

And for any military OTHER than crawls and ujb (Jim Agar)

any military who I have been offending, any who actually have taken my
remarks LITERALLY

(God only knows why)

I hereby PUBLICLY apologize!

Those who have actually BOTHERED to get to know me PERSONALLY
know I have only the highest respect for the military.

And, YOU, Dave, if you'd just pull your head out. IF you did a little
research before you shoot your mouth off,

it's pretty easy to find out (as others have), that I DID serve.

:-)

Very true. Two for whom I have the ULTIMATE respect are

General Colin Powell. And General Norman Schwarzkopf

(both dedicated CHRISTIANS, I might point out)

Col Jim Irwin was a Gemini Astronaut, as I recall.

A friend of mine, a Col in the Air Force, was involved in the
Manhattan Project.

I could go on.

AGAIN, to any but Dave or crawls or Jimmy, I apologize.

But then, no one but Dave or crawls or Jimmy has taken me literally.

That must tell you all something!

David! / Mike!

( I use both, because you're so interchangeable, you might as well be
the same idiot using two nyms.)

You keep missing the point that when you START with 15 lies, and 25
insults, I cut you off!

As a buddy said, START with the INFORMATION at the TOP, and then SNIP
the insults and lies!

;-)

(that's illegal, Elaine)

What "intelligence?"

I was pointing out that there doesn't seem to be any!

BOY, you are stupid!

I didn't "critique what was said"

because you said nothing worthy of "critique."

To clarify, the one who calls himself 'walksalone", (who I lovingly
redubbed "crawls") is an atheist who HATES Christianity, Christians,
the Bible, God, Jesus, and all related issues and topics.

He has been sitting in the Baptist group hurling insults at everything
that moves for 6 years now, or longer.

He truly is a bore.

And an attention whore.

And -- in general -- a truly pathetic, psychotic person.

And-- thanks so much for asking!

:-)

Hey, crawls! While you are typing one-handed (can't IMAGINE what you
are doing with the other! >:-( )

blush

You misspelled "too".

"Bit to uncomplicated for many." You used the wrong word.

"to" is the preposition. "You, crawls, were caught going to the park
and exposing yourself to some kids."

"Too" as in "much too complicated for dummies such as crawls."
