When the Jews read the Old Covenant, the Lord promised that He would
reveal
all He would do to the prophets (Amos 3:7), and, since the prophets said
that the Lord, Himself, would come only once (Zech 12),  Jesus' claim to
be
God was deemed blasphemy.

It was the blindness of Israel (Rom 11:25), for the Lord had revealed both
his first comiing and his second coming to the prophets. The scribes
missed
the first coming.
