#2 THE DIETARY LAWS WERE NOT GIVEN FOR HEALTH REASONS

by Donna Kupp <dkupp@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 29, 2008 at 11:44 AM

"You do not have a single scripture to support your claim that they
[The dietary laws] were for health reasons. Not even one!"
Donna Kupp

In response to that statement, a reader has kindly supplied three
verses for us to consider in this matter.

1. "Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath
       commanded you, THAT YE MAY LIVE, and that it may be
       well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land
       which ye shall possess." Deut 5:33

It is vital that we understand that Jesus made a distinction between
The Ten Commandments and The law of Moses that contained the
dietary laws, that were NOT GIVEN FOR HEALTH REASONS,
but to separate Israel from the nations.

When Jesus was asked this direct question: "What good thing shall
I do that I may have eternal life?" Jesus gave the man this direct
answer:  "Keep the commandments."

When the man asked "Which" commandments?" Jesus quoted
from the Ten Commandments and added: "love your neighbor as
your self".  (See Matthew 19:17)

Now, please read Deut 5:1-33. You will see that the entire chapter
is only about the Ten Commandments of God --and verse 22
specifically states that nothing more was added!

Deu 5:22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in
the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the
thick darkness, with a great voice: AND HE ADDED NO
MORE. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and
delivered them unto me.

                                         ~~~
 2.   "If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy
       God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt
give
       ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put
       none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon
       the Egyptians."                  Ex 15:26
Again, I refer you to Deut 5:1-33.  The voice of the LORD  spoke
The Ten Commandments --and he added no more.
                                           ~~~

3. "At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked
       healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been
       eating the food assigned by the king."
                                              Daniel 1:14-16

Friends, Daniel was not healthier because of the food he ate. He
was blessed because he obeyed God.

Yes, Daniel obeyed the dietary laws as well as The Ten
Commandments; because the dietary laws were required after
Israel made the golden calf.

Yes, Daniel ate pulse at the king's table to avoid unclean meat and
meat that was sacrificed to idols; but Seventh Day Adventists err
when they use Daniel as a reason to promote vegetarianism and a
return to the original diet of the garden of Eden*.

*  ELLEN WHITE :

"Vegetables, fruits and grains should compose our diet. Not an
ounce of flesh-meat should enter our stomachs. The eating of flesh
is unnatural. We are to return to God's original purpose in the
creation of man." {TSDF 78.3}

"Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for
us by our Creator."=97Ministry of Healing, p. 296 (CD 310)

The light God has given on HEALTH REFORM is for our
SALVATION and the salvation of the world." CDF p.461

I am not a Seventh Day Adventist (and never have been), a natural
Jew, or a Catholic. I am simply the least of Christ's brethren who
love Him and keep His Commandments.
