==>The world wants to trust in itself for salvation
The world keeps spinning 'round and 'round as
it has done for millions and millions of years.
It will undoubtedly continue to spin until at least
the sun burns itself out.
What is there to be "saved" from?
==>so it divides its trust between self and Christ
There's no credible historical evidence that Jesus
Christ even existed. So what is there to trust in?
Is it rational or intelligent to "trust" in imaginary
or fictitious beings, or characters from folk tales?
That kind of trust, like religious faith itself, is
for children and fools and has helped keep
uncounted billions of people stupid, fearful
and obedient.
If you want to have faith, have faith in yourself,
your family and friends and (if you don't mind being
a cockeyed optimist) in the basic goodness of human
beings.
No other type of "faith" will do anything for you.

Religion is, ultimately, succor for cowards who can't face the fact
that the universe is utterly indifferent to them. And Christianity is
a religion that demands of the gullible that they believe the
impossible in order to attain the unattainable. -Ivan Gowch
