Hello,
When faced with mental woes, trials and tribulations, stress and
troubles, one is meant to remain indifferent. "It will pass."... All
well and good in theory; but as normal human beings, how does one
switch to a state of mindfulness over such anguish? Physical pain I
can understand, but more aethereal things I cannot.
My guess is that you'll say, "Meditation." However, again, this only
has theory behind it. For example, when I am troubled with, say,
insecurity, I cannot meditate for more than a few minutes: my thoughts
are alive with conflict and cannot be silenced... Through training, I
can see that this can -- potentially -- be subdued. However, it would
take an awful lot, at times when one was not in anyway disturbed; as
to make it, at best, impractical.
Everyone has to deal with these emotions/situations at some point in
their lives and, to me, I can't see how it's possible to become
nonchalant towards them; it seems almost inhuman. Sure, you know it's
transient and that it only exists in you mind; but it still hurts...
Am I missing something!?
Thanks;
Chris
