Question: For whom was the Lotus Sutra expounded? Answer:...If one
speaks in relation to the two periods of the Former and Middle Days of
the Law following the Buddha's passing, the Lotus Sutra was intended
to serve as a supplemental teaching. However, the Lotus Sutra was
actually expounded for people born in the Latter Day of the Law. The
Lotus Sutra was entrusted to Nichiren for propagation in the Latter
Day of the Law.
