Though the moon is beautiful, the full splendor of its light can only
be seen in autumn. Though the cherry blossoms are lovely, they open
only in spring. All things are regulated by the time. And since that
is so, may we not suppose that, during the two thousand years of the
Former and Middle Days of the Law, the time had not yet come for the
daimoku to spread?
