Yak News

Hello, Kids.

I have just returned from a short vacation in the Seattle area, and
thought I should pass this along.

Saturday, I decided to take a drive around the Olympic Peninsula
(http://www.youra.com/destinations/maps/olympiccolormap.html),
which,
as you can see from the above map, lies between Puget Sound and the
wild Pacific Coast of Northwest Washington. It was a long, long
drive, but awesome in the true sense of the word, and worth every
minute.

I first drove south to Olympia, the state capital. A few miles west
of there, I turned north on Hiway 101. Hiway 101 is an old, famous,
scenic route that follows the Pacific Coast, roughly, from northern
Washington, all the way to Los Angeles. I followed the "101 Loop" in
an anti-clockwise manner, stopping when I felt like it, and having a
marvelous time.

About 9:30 PM, I found myself hungered, and in the city of Aberdeen,
Washington, birthplace and boyhood home of the oft-lamented, demented,
and thoroughly deceased Kurt Cobain. Aberdeen, like most towns of its
size, is essentially closed after 9 PM, but I was determined to find
somewhere to eat. I passed a place called "Duffy's", and was just
about to turn around and go back to it, when, a few miles down the
road, I saw another Duffy's, and pulled in.

The only really interesting thing about Duffy's was the menu, whereon
was listed, not one, but FOUR Yak-centric entrees, three different
burgers, and a ground yak patty with sauteed peppers and onions. I
did not try any of the yak dishes, as I had my heart set on some of
the seafood for which the area is famous, but the back of the
yak-menu-insert told of the many health benefits of the yak-flesh, not
the least of which is its low fat content.

I just thought you would all want to know that.
