You're falling for the theists' use of language:

This presumes that gods are what they think theirs is, and that we
reject it.

So they imagine it means rejecting something real.

Which we're not doing.

In the real world outside their religion they are part of their
religious belief, rituals, legends etc.

As they certainly exist, but they are no more than that except in the
minds of their believers.

That's all.

We should be more careful how we use language when it gets filtered
through their perspective.

Otherwise in their minds it confirms their misunderstanding.

Why do so many idiots imagine that the absence of a particular belief,
is a belief in itself?

And then rudely and stupidly tell us what we do or don't believe
instead of having the common sense and courtesy to accept what we say
our POV actually is?

They're not mind readers.

Only those who are ex-theists.

The only common factor is that we aren't theist.

For whatever reason.

In countries where theism is declining many parents simply don't teach
their kids to be theist.

Like mine. In fact on one side this goes back several generations.

When there is no reason to believe something then the default is that
one doesn't.

But you try getting any theist to understand this when it comes to
their gods.

That's his modus operandi.

You say something, the psychopath twists it out of all recognition and
accuses you of saying his version.

One of his favourite dishonesties is to turn "put up or shut up" into
censor****p.

When he knows perfectly well it is about backing up his presumptions
that he knows aren't mutually granted - which is the basis for dialog.

Without that he is the street-corner loonie screaming his monolog at
passers by.

In his mind.

These morons have no idea what an atheist is,how they think etc. And
it would be like suddenly believing in leprechauns.

There's also a lifetime's understanding of the real world to un-learn.

They don't. Apart from having to convert to marry, etc. And these are
usually because of the spouse's family. The spouse is already doing
something against the religion in marrying an outsider.

Would you, as an adult, start believing in Santa Claus again?
