In a discussion newsgroup where the topic is Christians, Christianity
or the bible, the discussion of the veracity of the bible is very much
on topic and valid.

Invalid metaphor.  I'm not trying to falsify something.  Perhaps a
better metaphor would be disagreeing with people who say that the
cookbook was written by Julia Child when the evidence inside the book
indicates that they are old folk recipes handed down from families.
