About blurring the meaning

Devotional Guide For the week of April 13, 2008

ETERNAL LIFE IS REALLY REAL

About blurring the meaning

To read the Bible in one year, today read Psalms 40-42

To Know:

³So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.² (Gen. 1:27)

For a hundred years following Columbusı discovery of America, the Spanish
and French reaped the benefits of the newly found world. The English
followed a century later. The Spaniards amassed gold and the French
collected pelts, but the ³get rich quick² schemes of the English
completely
failed. Ninety-two years after Columbus, Sir Walter Raleigh colonized
Roanoke Island. That adventure ended mysteriously and Roanoke became known
to history as the lost colony. Roanoke failed to produce enough food. The
Indians grew only enough maize for themselves and the English were
unprepared to farm the land. The English soon discovered that for colonies
to survive, entire families would need to cross the great sea. This became
the leading principle of English colonization.

Families are Godıs idea. Societies composed of only men eventually turn
savage. The California gold rush was mostly male and one out of every five
of the men died a violent death. The all male logging camps of the 19th
century could be brutal. For the past half century, a growing political
correctness has tempted women to act more masculine. Nothing is wrong with
correcting inequities, but God made us male and female. It endangers a
society to erase the differences between men and women. Let us rethink
what
is happening to us when we blur ***ual identity.

To Do:

Who is it that wants to blur the meaning of human being? Is it not our
adversary the Devil? The tactic of the Evil One is to separate what God
has
joined together. He divides the generations, the races, and especially the
***es. Men and women are equal in the sight of God and neither has a right
to oppress the other. Neither do we have the right to extinguish the
God-given difference between the ***es established by God in creation.
