Devotional Guide For the week of March 23, 2008
THE LIFE TO COME?
To read the Bible in one year, today read Job 31-33
To Know:
łEver since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his
eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that
have
been made.˛ (Rm.1: 20)
Why springtime? Why theologically? What is the message of the new life
that
comes at the end of every winter? Does springtime not help to calm our
fears? Do not we, whose faith is in Jesus Christ, find added comfort in
facing death, that we will rise again when we watch the world spring back
to
life each year?
Spring resurrects the summer that the fall and winter put to death. God
resurrected the man sin put to death on the cross. The same God who
resurrected Jesus returns the summer to us, beginning in the spring. When
Christ rose from the dead, he was the beginning of the resurrection of the
world. Every one of us whose faith is in the name of Jesus Christ will
follow him by rising on the day of his return. Some will not have died
when
he comes back, but they will wait for those who have gone before to meet
him. God has revealed his procedures in order that we, whose loved ones
have
gone to him through death, might be comforted.
To Answer:
Have we ever been thrilled by the realization that the coming world will
be
a fit place for a perfected humankind?
Are we energized by the fact that Jesus Christ will come again?
Have we ever pondered the fact that the promise of a new heaven and new
earth really means a literal new earth?
