Do not cause anyone to stumble
"Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in
much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In
stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings,
in fastings." 2 Cor. 6:3-5.
The apostles preached God's word, not to give offence but for
the purpose that people would receive God's word and be saved.
But whom did beat the servants of God and put them in prison?
It was those who took offence at the preaching.
Though many people take offence and do not believe God's word,
we must yet keep to the truths of the Bible. We are not allowed to
set God's word aside for the doctrines of men. We become no
stumbling-block for anyone through preaching God's word. When
anyone preaches gospel and people take offence, then it is not the
preacher that is the stumbling-block, but Jesus Christ. "As it is
written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence:
and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." Rom. 9:33.
Isaiah 8:14-15.
There are many who take offence at my articles, but it is not my
purpose. It is better people receive God's word than they reject it.
My purpose is to wake those who are in spiritual meaning sleeping.
The sleeper is unknowing of that he is sleeping, but when he wakes
up he knows that he has slept. A sign of spiritual sleeping people
is that they want to have calm and peace in their churches and won't
be disturbed of any revival message from the Lord. They are not
longing for any revival or that the Body of Christ may be ready to
meet Jesus when he comes. They get on well with the spiritual
darkness in the churches and won't be disturbed. But how to wake
anyone without disturbing him?
