No such thing as Saturday Sabbath keeping.... Col. 2:16

by old man joe <not@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 26, 2008 at 06:43 AM

in the Word of God it is written :

" let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or
a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the
substance is of Christ. " Col.2:16,17

the great freedom which is in Jesus Christ by faith sets free the
child of God from the keeping of the Law of Moses as a means to
salvation and as a means to sanctification... Ga 2:16; Col. 1:30

" knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by
faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we
might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law;
for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified." Gal. 2:16

" But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from
God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption " Col. 1:30

                 ************************************

the Law was given to lead us to Christ...

" the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be
justified by faith. " Ga 3:24; Col. 1:3

and now that faith has come through Jesus Christ our Lord, we, who
are His children, His elect ones, are no longer under a tutor...

" But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor."
 Gal. 3:25

the Law is the instrument by which God will judge the sinner on the
Last Day... Ps. 89:30-32; Joh. 15:22 the elect were already judged
in Christ Joh. 5:24 Joh. 3:18 and will not stand condemned on the
Day of Judgement Ro. 8:1 but be judges themselves 1 Cor. 6:2,3

                    ***********************************

the Law of God is greater is scope than that which is contained in
commandments handed down to Moses... Ro. chapter 1 illustrates the
condemnation of God befalling all those before the Law of Moses came,
by the light of conscience... Ro. 1:19,20 Jude 1:14,15

the flood of Noah came before the Law of Moses.

the confusion of speech came before the Law of Moses.

the total destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah came before the Law of
Moses.

God would have destroyed King Abimelech and all that he had before he
adulterated Sarah.

the destruction of Egypt came before the Law of Moses.

it is sufficient therefore to say that the Law of God is greater in
scope than the Law given through Moses... where there is no Law
neither is there violation... Ro. 4:15... meaning... there was Law
before the Law of Moses. Ro. 2:12-16

                ************************************

having now the completed revelation of God in the written Word the
question to ask concerning Saturday Sabbath keeping is :

" What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of
transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was
made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. "
 Ga 3:19

Christ has come... He fulfilled the Law Mt. 5:17..." it is finished "
Joh. 17:4; Joh. 19:30 for those who are of the faith of Abraham.
Ro. Chapter 4

              ***************************************

Jesus Christ is our peace with God ( Ro. 5:1 ) which the Law could
never do. Ro. 8:3

the children of Living God live now by the Law of Faith ( Ro. 3:27 )
and are therefore compelled by God's indwelling Holy Spirit to gather
on the day the Lord rose from the dead, Sunday, since " we conclude
that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. "
( Ro. 3:28 ) and we are not to subject ourselves to Law keeping
Sabbatarians as they would have us do. Col. 2:16,17

furthermore, Jesus told His true disciples that they'd be cast out of
synagogues... Saturday worship places... because Christianity is not a
salvation by Law salvation... salvation is by grace alone.

" Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the
world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves
to regulations--

"Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,"

which all concern things which perish with the using--according to the
commandments and doctrines of men?

These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed
religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value
against the indulgence of the flesh. " Col 2:20-23

" But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but
for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners,
for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of
mothers, for manslayers...

for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for
perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound
doctrine,

according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was
committed to my trust. " 1Ti 1:9-11

                        ********************************

the elect of God are therefore not to subject ourselves to
Sabbatarians... but rather, they are subjected to us. 1 Cor. 6:2
