contrary to the position held by many, God does NOT love everybody...
" The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of
iniquity " Ps. 5:5
therefore, it's wholly un biblical to believe that He loves everybody.
the end result of being hated by God is displayed in the life and
times of Esau, the twin brother of Jacob... " As it is written, "Jacob
have I loved, but Esau have I hated." Ro.9:13
Romans chapter 9 declares the impersonal Soverignty of God having
mercy on whom He has mercy and on whom He wills He hardens.
while " The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and
plenteous in mercy. " Ps. 103:8 His mercy and grace is effectual
only so far as the elect ( chosen ones ) are concerned... as in John
3:16... the Golden Text...
" For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. "
as explained by Jesus in the proceeding verses only the elect are in
view when the word cosmos " world " is used in John 3:16. and this is
further illustrated in Jesus High Priestly prayer of John 17...
" I have revealed Your name to the men whom You gave to Me out of the
world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have kept
Your word. "
" I pray for them. I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You
have given Me, for they are Yours. "
without being carried away by emotion and denominational tradition, do
your studies and you will find that the Bible word ' cosmos ' which is
translated ' world ' in Johns gospel has 7 different usage
definitions... for example...
" Behold, the world has gone after Him. " Jo.12:19. its apparent
that everyone on the face of the earth wasn't gathered around Jesus on
that occasion. the speakers themselves refused to do so. and no
believer in included in the word ' cosmos, world ' when John says
" and the whole world lies in the lap ( sexual embrace ) of the evil
one " 1 Jo. 5:19
the reference to God so loving the ' world ' in John 3:16 as explained
in John 3:17 is men out of every tribe and nation but not all tribes
and nations as a whole... not all will trust in Christ.
i know that rubs the flesh the wrong way but the Word of God does
that, doesn't it ?
when the love of God is referenced in Holy Scripture the reference is
towards the elect and to them alone. as for the rest... " thou hatest
all workers of iniquity " Ps. 5:5
these will get justice " But he who does wrong shall receive justice
for the wrong which he did, and there is no respect of persons."
Col 3:25
