IMO: to a large extent the story of Adam and Eve is the story of
everyman, and an explication that through the generations man has had
to work for a living.  There are conspiracy theories that the ruling
cl***** like it this way, but if no-one did anything the place would
fall to bits.

The mystery to me in Genesis is what is the tree of life.  After the
Pentateuch the Old Testament is a bit of a yarn of the Jewish people,
and fundamentalists put too much stock in it.
